Buying Local: Test Driving RV Options at your Local RV Dealer

Nohr’s RV Center has sold a full line of RVs and travel homes since 1970, and we fully understand that every vehicle handles a little differently, as well as major differences in Class A and C motorhomes. We recommend taking a test drive to both evaluate the vehicle and to get a feel for how it handles.

Knowledgeable Staff Available

A locally-based, family owned RV dealer is often better than major dealers or shows because the staff understands the vehicles. Whether you are looking for a used motorhome or shopping for a new purchase, we are in our third generation of ownership with the experience and knowledge to answer your questions or provide some basic tips for operation before you take a test drive. We can even help you choose between Class A or C RVs.

RV Differences

Large, small, and medium RVs all have different characteristics. Your sightlines will change, and this can be uncomfortable for some drivers. The turn radius goes up based on the length of motorhome you are driving. There are even steering and suspension differences which appeal to different types of applications. Large motorhomes are great for a fully mobile lifestyle, but they may be overkill if weekend roadtrips are more of what you plan to do.

All RVs are Unique

Every motor vehicle will behave slightly differently, and this is true of cars and trucks as well as motorhomes. The brake pedal may have more or less stiffness, windows and mirrors have variations, and some offer more headroom or a smoother ride. Get to know the cab area a little before you begin a test drive, and use your preferences to narrow down your options. In many ways, buying a motorhome is the same as buying a car, but there are a lot more variables to consider.

Inspect Your Options

The interior of a motorhome will have a huge impact on your buying decisions. Before you even consider test driving an RV, you should take the time to give it a complete walk-through evaluation. Pay close attention to storage space, furniture configuration, and convenience options. If a make or model doesn’t have the features you want most, check out something different before you get behind the wheel. Nohr’s RV Center carries new and used motorhomes and trailers. If setting out for a life on the road appeals to your family, we are conveniently located in Tracy, CA., and we would be happy to discuss vehicle options, interior designs, and arrange test drives for selected models.
