in our third generation of family operation, we understand how hard it can be to keep the interior of your motorhome from becoming cluttered. That’s why we went in search of some great ideas that reduce the clutter and make life on the road a little easier. Think of the following suggestions as starting points to indicate methods you can use throughout your RV.

Hair Band Spice Rack

Nohr’s RV Center has a large variety of campers for sale, and maximizing available space is important for them all. A very versatile way to do that is to cut and paint a piece of 1x2 to fit the wall between your kitchen area counter and the cabinets. Place elastic hair bands or ordinary rubber bands over the wood and then superglue it to the wall space. You can now place necessary items within easy reach without fear of them rolling around or spilling as you travel. This same idea works well in close bathroom spaces, for storing socks or washcloths, and all manner of lightweight storage needs, and can be used vertically or horizontally as needed.

Adjustable Shelves

Lightweight adjustable shelves are handy to have, and can be used in various places throughout your motorhome. To store more and keep it all organized, pick up a few plastic bins of various sizes at the dollar store along with velcro strips with adhesive backing. Stick the velcro to the shelves and the bottoms of the containers and you have instant organization for all your small items.

Suspended Jars

Simply screwing the lid of jars to the bottom of a shelf can give you more space. It may be necessary to attach a piece of wood to the shelf bottom to prevent the screws from fully penetrating the shelf, but that is easily done by first inserting screws from the top downward through the shelf and into the piece of wood. Keep in mind that using plastic jars is safer than using glass, and place the larger jars towards the back so that you achieve a staggered effect.

Hooks and Hanging Racks

The possibilities for hanging items out of the way are endless. From wire baskets to hold fruit and vegetables in the kitchen to shower hooks with spring-loaded clips in the bathroom, it is easy to place items so that they will be close at hand but kept in place and out of the way when you aren’t using them. If your hanging racks are detachable, you can even move them out to your patio area when you will be parked for a while. Getting the most use out of the space you have available is a critical part of RV ownership. Not every idea will work for very motorhome, so don’t be afraid to skip suggestions which aren’t relevant to you, or trying out new ideas which you discover in your travels.
